British Whiteman crowns gold in 1500m race; Britain’s Jack Whiteman on Tuesday won the gold of the 1500 M race in the 18th edition of the World Athletics Championships in the American city of Eugene.
Whiteman went 3: 29.23 minutes in front of Norwegian Olympic champion Jacob Ingebrigsten (3: 29.47 m) and Spain’s Mohamed Qutier (3: 29.90 m).

It was Wightman’s first international title, which was a fifth finish in the 2019 Doha edition, and he won the European Championship bronze in Berlin in 2018.

His father Jeff, a regular commentator at international athletics meetings and a commentator from the floor of Hayward Field Stadium in Eugene commented on the races and competitions of the World Cup by saying: “My son is a world champion!”.
