In a press conference today, Infantino said: “The World Cup has seen success at all levels, and we have not seen any riots. We thank Qatar for presenting the best version ever. ” He noted that the World Cup was an opportunity for many audiences who came to Qatar to learn about Arab culture.
He added that the tournament had been a great mass success, with 3 million and 270,000 people attending stadium games. The tournament’s largest crowd attendance at the Argentina-Mexico group stage was recorded, with 88 thousand and 966 people.
The president of FIFA also noted that five billion people in the world had watched the World Cup, and Infantino said the tournament’s revenue was $ 7 billion and a half billion, up by $1 billion from the previous edition of the World Cup (Russia 2018).
As for the 2026 World Cup, Infantino said FIFA wanted to maintain the formation of groups of 4 teams and not 3 as previously proposed to keep the pleasure and excitement of the first round.
