Fred Kerley-The American Won Gold in 100m Race

Fred Kerley-The American Won Gold in 100m Race, Fred Kerley of the United States culminated Saturday in the gold of the 100m race at the 18th World Athletics Championships in his country, specifically Eugene City, in an American treble for the third time in the tournament’s history.

Curley traveled 9.86 seconds ahead of compatriots Marvin Bracey and Trayvon Brommel, who together achieved 9.88 seconds.
Their compatriot Christian Coleman, the defending champion in Doha 2019, finished sixth in 10.01 seconds.

Breaking expectations

Many experts teased when Kerley decided last year to move from competing in the 400m to 100m race, but the American with a tall and strong structure proved right by being crowned the silver of the Tokyo Olympics following with today’s world title.

“I didn’t know I was crowned until I looked up and saw the clock on which my name was Fred Kerley. “It means a lot to me. I’ve done something not many 400m runners have done. ”

“It’s amazing among the greats, they did it in 1991, and we did it in 2022,” he added, referring to the trilogy achieved by the United States for the third time after 1983 (Carl Lewis, Walkalvin Smith, Emmett King) and 1991 (Carl Lewis, Leroy Burrell, and Denise Mitchell).

“It was amazing to do this on home soil, and the masses behind us, we said as Americans that we were going to do it and we did it. Winning is the most important thing. I’m back on my playing field, “recalling his 100 and 200 races and a Cowell jump contest at school and college.

Fred Kerley made a remarkable run in the 400m during which he has crowned the local title twice and bronze of the 2019 Doha World Cup and gold and silver relay 4 times 400 m.

Kerley ran 7 races this year before the World Cup, all of which came down under a barrier of 10 seconds, the last at Hayward Stadium in Eugene on June 24 during the American trials, where he achieved within two hours, a personal best of 9.76 W in the semifinals and then 9.77 W in the final.

Kerley is considered to be one of only three men, along with his compatriot Michael Norman and South Africa Wade van Niekerk, who went down under the 10-second barrier in 100 m and 20 seconds in 200 m and 44 seconds in 400 m.

It was the third consecutive US title in the 100m race after Justin Gatlin in 2017 in London and Coleman in Doha 2019, repeating its third achievement after the first time between 1983 and 1991 and the second between 1997 and 2001.

The United States confirmed that it had regained control of the race’s world title in the last two editions after Jamaica ousted it for four consecutive editions led by Hurricane Osayne Bolt (2009, 2013 and 2015) and Johan Blake (2011).

The United States is the most crowned world title in the 100m race, with 11 out of 18 copies, and only 7 of them escaped, 4 times for Jamaica and 1 time for Britain (Linford Christie), Canada (Donovan Bailey) and St. Kitts and Nevis (Kim Collins).
