Gold Race 400 m Hurdles for Brazilian Dos Santos; Brazilian Alison dos Santos was crowned Tuesday with the gold of the 400 m hurdles in the 18th edition of the World Athletics Championships in the American city of Eugene.

Dos Santos cut the distance for 46.29 seconds, setting a world championship record, marking the previous figure of 47.18 seconds that American Kevin Young had since the Stuttgart German version in 1993.

Dos Santos, the owner of last summer’s Tokyo Olympics bronze, presents Americans Ray Benjamin, runners-up in Doha 2019, the Tokyo Olympics (46.89s), and Trevor Bassett (47.39s).

Norwegian star Karsten Farholm, the Olympic and world record holder finished seventh in 48.42 seconds.

It is the first race Farholm has lost since September 2018 in Czech Ostrava. Since then, he has had an 18-race winning streak along with four other qualifying races at the 2019 World Championships and 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.
