International Boxing Federation’s exclusion from 2024 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Friday that it will once again exclude the International Boxing Federation from the planned 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The International Boxing Federation (IBA) was previously barred from participating in last summer’s 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and its presence at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is uncertain.

International Boxing Federation’s exclusion from 2024 Olympics:

IOC Director of Sport Ken McConnell said Friday at a press conference that “in the interest of athletes and the boxing community, the IBF will not organize any Olympic qualifiers and events.”

McConnell stated that the IOC “remains very concerned about governance, governance, arbitration and finance” at Amateur Boxing International.

The re-election of Russia’s Omar Kremlev as President of the International Boxing Federation was questioned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

McConnell added that the IOC will decide “in due course” on the conditions for organizing boxing at the 2024 Paris Olympics “by working closely with the organizing committee and representatives of athletes.”

Although the inclusion of boxing, which began its Olympic campaign since the 1904 St. Louis Olympics, in the Paris 2024 programme is guaranteed, its presence at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is still under consideration.
