Olympic champion Schooling loses gold after his team’s elimination

Olympic champion Joseph Schooling of Singapore was denied a first gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, after his team was eliminated from the relay.
The team of Schooling, Koa Jing Win, Jonathan Tan and Mikel Lee finished first on Saturday in a four-time 100m free race and celebrated their gold medal.

During the post-race interview, however, the team was informed that it was out of competition because a swimmer jumped into the water prematurely at the exchange.

Schooling (26) surprised American legend Michael Phelps when he snatched the 2016 Rio Olympics gold in the 100 m butterfly race, becoming the first athlete from his country to achieve yellow metal in the history of any sport at the Olympics.
