Mundial Eugene: Second world title for Kenyan Kebegun at 1500m
Kenya’s double Olympic champion Faith Kipiegun won a second gold at the World Athletics Championships, following her thrilling crowning in the 1500m at the United States World Cup.
In 3: 52.96 minutes, the tenth in history, Kibiegun (28 years old), the champion of the 2017 London edition, advanced on Ethiopian Gudav Tsegai (3: 54.52 D) firmly launched, and British Laura Moyer (3: 55.28 D).
Kibiegun and Tsegai had a similar competition at Hayward Field Stadium in Eugene, at the end of May last in the Diamond League meeting. Tsegai then recorded a quick time, but Kipbegon outperformed it by 3: 52.59 AED.
In addition to her 2017 title, Kibiegun owns two silver credits in the 2015 and 2019 World Cup and Olympic gold in Rio 2016 and Tokyo last summer.
