Nadal goes into the Wimbledon quarter-finals
Rafael Nadal of Spain reached the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships by beating Van de Zandsschulp of the Netherlands in three sets without pay.
World number four Nadal beat the world number 25 in Group I 6-4 and in the second 6-2 before narrowly deciding the third by 7-6 (8/6).
Nadal will face American 14th-ranked Taylor Fritz in the upcoming round.
The Spaniard is seeking his third Wimbledon grass title after 2008 and 2010.
“Personally, having reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon after an absence from the tournament in the last three years is great and so I am very happy, very happy,” Nadal said after the victory.
“I think I played positively until the end when I went a bad way.”
