CKC NAMES SPRINT NATIONAL TEAMS FOR U23, JUNIOR WORLDS AND OLYMPIC HOPES REGATTA

Ottawa, Ontario (July 6, 2022) – Canoe Kayak Canada (CKC) is pleased to announce the list of rowers nominated to compete in the 2022 World U-23 Championships and Olympic Hopes Race.

The World U-23 Championship team includes 12 athletes who have also been named to the first team, including U-23 World Champion Sofia Jensen. Young athletes and under-23 athletes will travel to Szeged, Hungary from August 31 to September 4 to compete for a coveted spot on the podium while competing on the world stage.

“I am so excited to be once again part of such an amazing group of athletes, congratulations to all,” Jensen said. ‘As a team, let’s enjoy every moment, finish every race without regrets and have fun in Hungary.’

The Olympic Hopes Regatta will take place just four days later, from September 8-11, in Bratislava, Slovakia, and Canada’s top U-16 and U-17 rowers will take part in an iconic event showcasing the next generation of Olympic talent.

Additional nominations for the Olympic Hopes races will be submitted based on the national championship rankings after that event taking place in Shawinigan, Quebec from August 23-28.
