Fifth World title for Polish Pawel Fajdek in the hammer throw
Polish champion Pawel Fajdek achieved a historic milestone with his fifth consecutive hammer-throwing gold, at the Oregon 2022 World Athletics Championships.
Fajdek achieved his breakthrough in his third attempt when he scored 81.98 m, the best number of the year in the competition, beating compatriot Vojtshikh Nowitzki, last summer’s Tokyo Olympic champion, with 81.03 on his third attempt as well.
Bronze was for Norwegian Ivind Henriksen at 80.87 m in his second attempt, his best figure of the season.
Gold Hammer Throw for American Andersen
American Brooke Andersen has crowned the gold of a hammer-throwing competition.
Andersen achieved 78.96 m in her last bid for the world title.
Silver returned to Canadian Camryn Rogers (75.52 m), and bronze to other American Janie Cassanafoid (74.86 m).
