Nigerian Amusan earns world title in 100m hurdles

Nigerian Amusan earns world title in 100m hurdles; The Nigerian Toby Amusan won the world title of the 100 m hurdles less than two hours after breaking the world record in the 18th edition of the world athletics championships in the American city of Eugene.

Amusan made a new record of 12.06 but was not adopted due to strong winds (2.5 m/sa) after achieving an hour and 50 minutes in the semifinal 12.12 seconds, breaking American Kendra Harrison’s 12.26 seconds since July 22, 2016, at the London Olympic Games.

Silver returned to Jamaican Brittany Anderson (12.23s), and bronze to Puerto Rican Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho Quinn (12.23s).

Amusan, 25, finally succeeded in translating her sovereignty over the race to make up for her disappointment at the last edition in Doha 2019 and the Tokyo Olympics last summer.
